Dr Madeleine Adams is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and covers all aspects of general ophthalmology.
Special Interests :
Dr Adams completed general ophthalmology training in Queensland and then undertook fellowships in Australia and overseas. Dr Adams worked for the Fred Hollows Foundation as a clinical fellow in Central Australia and Nepal.
She undertook a Medical Retina Fellowship at the Lions Eye Institute in Western Australia. Dr Adams has also worked at Bristol Eye Hospital in the UK and at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne.
Dr Adams was awarded a PhD by the University of Melbourne for her research into Age Related Macular Degeneration. She has numerous publications including a book chapter on the Genetics of Retinal Disease. She has also presented at national and international conferences.
Her research has been featured by the media including the Daily Mail and the Wall Street Journal.
Dr Adams worked for the Fred Hollows Foundation as a clinical fellow in Central Australia and Nepal. She continues to work with the Fred Hollows Foundation in an advisory role. Dr Adams remains committed to outreach work and has worked as a consultant ophthalmologist in Central Australia, based in Alice Springs, and regional Queensland.
Dr Adams works as an ophthalmologist for the Westside Private Hospital in Taringa, and holds a position as Lecturer at the University of Queensland. She is involved in teaching the next generation of eye doctors, as well as mentoring junior doctors and medical students.
