Dr Jason Cassar is a specialist vitreo-retinal and cataract surgeon. He completed his medical and ophthalmic training in Queensland. Following this, he underwent two years of additional specialist vitreo-retinal and medical retina training in the United Kingdom. Dr Cassar took part in fellowships in the UK at the Hull and East Yorkshire Eye Hospital, the Prince Charles Eye Unit Windsor and at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
These fellowships allowed him to obtain extensive experience in the latest innovations in vitreo-retinal surgery, laser and injectable medicines. He also obtained additional training at the Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, in leading edge treatments for macular disease.
Dr Jason Cassar provides comprehensive ophthalmic service specialising in the medical and surgical treatment of disorders involving the retina, macula and vitreous at three convenient locations in Brisbane (Taringa, Spring Hill and Sunnybank).
He is highly skilled, experienced and is able to ensure best treatment options for patients. He has access to state of the art ophthalmic equipment and resources as well as specialist support staff.
The nature of vitreo-retinal disorders mean that many patients may be referred with conditions requiring urgent treatment – Dr Cassar is available for emergency consultations, which help to facilitate optimal outcomes.
