Dr Nicola Lowrey completed a twelve month clinical research fellowship in the field of breast cancer, at the world renowned Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto. Here she gained extensive experience in the use of Deep Inspiration Breath Hold technique, hypofractionated radiotherapy and locally advanced breast cancer.
Nicola treats all areas of general oncology with special interest in the management of breast, gynaecological and central nervous system tumours. Her research interests to date have been in the application of imaging techniques to improve radiotherapy planning and her major research in Toronto investigated the use of breast MRI to improve the accuracy of radiotherapy planning for women who have had breast conservation surgery.
She was awarded her Fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists in 2015, following completion of her specialist training in Radiation Oncology in Brisbane. She completed her medical degree at the University of Queensland in 2007 and was previously a diagnostic radiographer, graduating from the Queensland University of Technology in 1996.
Nicola in actively involved in research and holds professional memberships with the Australian Society for Breast Disease (ASBD), Cooperative Trials Group for NeuroOncology (COGNO), Trans-Tasman Radiation Oncology Group
